Software Developer (Memcache)

Schooner Information Technology is a well-funded startup located in Sunnyvale, California, with development organizations in Sunnyvale and China. Founded by two Silicon Valley veterans, Schooner's data access appliances provide Web 2.0 and cloud computing businesses with significant improvements in scalability, performance and affordability, while enabling the creation of innovative new business applications.

Schooner is seeking software developers to work in the memcached group of the software development team. The Schooner memcached appliance is a cutting-edge, enterprise-class, high-performance caching appliance. We are seeking strong system software engineers who can provide significant contributions to core components in our appliance such as the storage subsystem, clustering management, etc.

Required skills:

• BS/MS in computer science with 3+ years of experience
• Proficient in C/C++ programming in Linux or other Unix environments
• Experience with distributed systems and multi-threaded programming
• Strong understanding of OS internals, clustering and networking protocols
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Shell/Perl for testing and distributed test harnesses
• Experience with software product releases
• Knowledge of memcached and the LAMP stack a plus
• Familiarity with database transaction processing a plus
• Performance tuning experience a plus
• Good communication skills and team player
