SUNNYVALE, Calif., January 12, 2010 — Schooner Information Technology, Inc., a provider of data-access appliances for Web 2.0, cloud computing and enterprise datacenters, today announced the appointment of Jerry Rudisin as chief executive officer (CEO) and president. Rudisin succeeds Schooner co-founder Dr. John Busch, who becomes chairman of the board and chief technology officer (CTO), in which role he will direct the company's ongoing technology innovation. Schooner's first products, appliances for memcached and MySQL, already improve performance by a factor of eight times over existing datacenter solutions and reduce three-year total cost of ownership by more than 50 percent.
Rudisin brings to the CEO role more than 20 years of experience in the IT infrastructure and application development sectors and was most recently CEO and president of Agitar Software, a Java applications provider acquired in 2008. Rudisin previously served as CEO and president of telecom software provider NightFire, where he led the company to profitability in spite of the telecom depression, resulting in its acquisition in 2003. Rudisin was previously vice president of marketing at Rational Software Corporation (acquired by IBM in 2003) as it grew from a private company with $28 million in revenue to a public company with $412 million in revenue. Rudisin earned his MS in computer science from UCLA and his BS in computer science from MIT.
"Jerry is an exceptional leader, with particularly deep strength in strategy, marketing and finance, and the Schooner team is thrilled to have his insight and direction," said Dr. Busch. "In the past year, we've successfully brought the company and the Schooner appliances out of stealth and into production use by industry-leading customers. Jerry's expertise will accelerate Schooner's growth as we help customers around the world maximize the performance and availability of their datacenter infrastructures while cutting their costs."
"Schooner offers one of those rare and truly disruptive innovations that will deliver profound economic gains. The Web is increasingly the place of business for companies from startups to the Global 2000; a sluggish Web site or cloud tells customers to go somewhere else. With our unique software to exploit fast, high-capacity flash memory drives and the latest multi-core processors, Schooner delivers better throughput with one-eighth to one-tenth of the number of servers otherwise needed," said Rudisin. "It is an exciting time to join the company, with Schooner well-poised for explosive growth by delivering innovations that make Internet datacenters perform better at lower cost."
Schooner Information Technology provides smooth scaling for Web 2.0, cloud computing and enterprise datacenters through its balanced data-access application appliances. Schooner solutions are fast, scalable, cost-effective and green. Schooner customers enjoy eight-to-one server consolidation and save power and space, reducing total cost of ownership by 50 percent and create new business opportunities based on rapid access to terabyte-scale data.
