Cost-Effectively Scale Your Caching Tier

The Schooner Appliance for Memcached/NoSQL meets the throughput and scaling requirements of memcached deployments at much lower cost than a DRAM-only solution, in terms of capital expense, power consumption, and rack space. We beat any other flash-based system too.

If you need to scale, we'll help you scale in the least painful and most reliable way possible today. Our Memcached/NoSQL Appliance enables:

  • Order-of-magnitude increase in capacity per server; and
  • Order-of-magnitude reduction in power per memcached operation.

The ability of Schooner's highly parallel, optimized flash subsystem to increase memcached capacity by an order of magnitude relative to a traditional memcached server is especially significant because many memcached installations are capacity limited. For example, an application may require a total of 512 GB of memory to achieve a targeted hit rate. If a typical memcached server has 32 GB of DRAM, this application would require 16 nodes to get the required capacity. The client workload is therefore spread across 16 nodes, typically resulting in poor processor and network utilization (<10%). Schooner's balanced use of flash memory and multi-core processors allows the entire working set of the application to be hosted on a single Schooner Appliance.

Schooner Cache Capacity Increase Through Flash Subsystem

This high consolidation significantly reduces the cost, power, cooling, and space required per memcached operation. Customers see an order-of-magnitude improvement in memcached throughput per watt.

Talk to Schooner — you can't afford not to if you care about caching consolidation and data center scaleout.
